How prepared are you for whatever challenges life may bring your way? I ask that because of the uncertainty of the times we’re living in. It’s no secret, for example, that the coronavirus caught most everyone off guard. It’s also no secret that our nation, and others around the world, were not prepared to deal with the devastating effects of COVID-19. As a result, we’ve been made to think outside the box—to adapt to new lifestyles we never thought we would be subjected to that continue to have a marked effect on nearly the entire world. That’s one reason the Bible says in Luke 21:36, English Standard Version, “But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” Nothing ever takes God by surprise. And He doesn’t want us, as His children, to be blindsided by things the devil tries to use to trick, trap or destroy us. God wants us to be armed and ready to defend ourselves against the devil’s tricks, traps, and deceptions. How do we arm ourselves? We put on God’s armor, His Word—which promises that “no weapon meant to hurt you will succeed” (The Passion Translation). Ezekiel 38:7, New Living Translation, says to “Get ready; be prepared! Keep all the armies around you mobilized, and take command of them.” Don’t let things take you by surprise. Get prepared, and stay prepared. Be ready for whatever good God may bring your way, but also be ready for whatever challenges you may face, knowing that God will help you get through them.
