We began Monday’s devotion with a familiar saying that goes: “When one door closes, God will open another one.” The original version of that quote, which comes from the famous inventor Alexander Graham Bell, says: “When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.” Think about the last part of that statement for a moment. Are you guilty of spending so much time looking at the closed door that you do not see the one that God has opened for you? God has promised that the year 2020 will be “The Year of Uncommon Opportunities.” Not only is He going to give you more opportunities to do great things and be an even greater blessing to others and to His kingdom, but He’s going to open doors for you to do things that you never imagined possible. In turn, you will be greatly blessed! Jesus said in John 14:12, The Message, “The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things.” The things Jesus did were not normal, everyday things. They were uncommon things the Bible described as miracles. Now, He’s positioned you to do what He did, and more. Ask God to help you to recognize those opportunities when they come, so you can seize them and be a blessing to others.
