It’s true that the infectious coronavirus pandemic called COVID-19 has sent our nation, as well as other nations, into a serious tailspin. Sadly, the effects of this dreaded disease have evoked a strong degree of fear as the world has moved into a great state of panic and chaos—fearful of what’s yet to come. Let me encourage you today by repeating what the Lord told Joshua as he was about to step into the footsteps of Moses and lead the children of Israel into the Promised Land. God said, “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest” (Joshua 1:9). The New Living Translation says, “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” If you’re a believer, you must take those words to heart. The Lord YOUR God is with you wherever you go. No matter what’s happening in the world, God is still in control. And as His son or daughter, your protection, deliverance and eternal destiny are in His hands. Psalm 46:1 sums it all up: “God is our refuge and strength. A very present help in trouble.” God is here, right now. He is not only a refuge, your hiding place in the midst of the storms of life, but He will give you faith and strength to stand against the attacks of the enemy and to fearlessly and victoriously endure during trying times. Just trust Him!
