As a pastor, I can’t help but become sad when I read or hear about things like increasing divorce rates, or bankruptcies, or foreclosures. Even more hurtful is the fact that many of those victimized are Christians. Unfortunately, when I see how the enemy is making such a disastrous impact on God’s people through attacks on their lives—including their marriages, health and finances—I’m not so surprised. That’s why it’s so important that we, as Christians, give strong heed to God’s Word in Matthew 6:33, New Living Translation, which urges us to “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously,” and in Proverbs 3:5-6 to “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Once you connect with God through prayer and His Word, and then apply your faith to what His Word says, the Holy Spirit will help you to make right decisions—whether it’s in choosing a mate, deciding on what job to take, or even if you should enter into the ministry. God has given us His Holy Spirit to lead and guide us so we don’t make bad choices. Being a Christian doesn’t mean you will never face challenges. But when you’re living the faith life, it does mean you never have to face those challenges alone. God is always with you to see you through in victory!
