We hear that all the time, but do we honestly believe it? Do we have the faith to believe that, no matter how difficult and chaotic things may appear to be today, you don’t have to be afraid because Almighty God, the Creator of the Universe, is still in control? I hope your answer to that question would be a resounding yes. Because the truth is—God is still in control! How do I know? Because of what Jesus said in John 16:31-33, The Message: “Do you finally believe? In fact, you’re about to make a run for it—saving your own skins and abandoning me. But I’m not abandoned. The Father is with me. I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.” Because Jesus has overcome the world, we have no need to fear. Though things look bleak, and at times there appears to be no relief in sight, we follow the advice of Proverbs 21: 31, The Message, which says, “Do your best, prepare for the worst—then trust God to bring victory.” How do we do our best? We keep praying, we keep believing, and we keep trusting God to lead us through to victory. Don’t fear the uncertainties of life. Don’t fret over the challenges the devil sends your way. As a believer, you have an assurance through God’s Word that no weapon meant to hurt you will succeed (Isaiah 54:17, The Passion Translation), and that, according to God’s Word, you are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37) through Him who loved you.
