Fear not! We hear that a lot in Christian circles. And because we know that God is on our side, we can understand why we should never fear. But the reality is, when we face difficult circumstances that we don’t know how to handle, it becomes easy to slip over into fear and begin to worry and be fretful. That’s when we need to take a moment to reflect on God’s Word—to remember that He has promised to always be with us and to never forsake us. Yes, these are some difficult times for all of us. But the truth is, that’s no reason for us to panic, worry or become fearful because no matter how bad the situation seems, no matter how many businesses close or jobs are lost, God has promised to take care of and protect us. Jesus reassured His disciples about this when He told them in John 16:33, The Message, “In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.” That word conquer literally means “to overcome” or “to be victorious” or “to gain victory over.” The Bible tells us in Proverbs 21:31, The Message, “Do your best, prepare for the worst—then trust God to bring victory.” Psalm 56:3, English Standard Version, says, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” And 1 John 5:4, Amplified Bible, Classic Edition, reminds us, “For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith.” Faith! That’s the key to getting through whatever crisis you may face. Be assured, tests and trials will come. But don’t be discouraged. The battle truly is the Lord’s, and He has made you the victor. God is still in control, and He is right there with you to see that you make it through victoriously! See yourself as an overcomer, a winner who is successful because the Greater One lives on the inside of you.
