Did you know that, despite whatever difficulties and challenges you face, God has an abundance of blessings waiting for you? Jesus made that clear in John 10:10 when He told His disciples, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” The “they” Jesus is referring to are believers. As Christians, that includes you and me.” In the New Living Translation, the last part of that verse says, “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” The Message refers to the abundant life as “real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.” As His sons and daughters, a “real and eternal, more and better life” than we are experiencing today is what we can expect as we continue to love, serve, and obey our heavenly Father. That’s His promise to us. So, instead of walking around depressed, disappointed, and feeling sorry for ourselves because things are not going the way we had planned, we can turn our eyes toward God—believing and expecting His blessings to come to us. Ephesians 3:20, New American Standard Bible, says God stands ready to “do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.” The power that is at work inside us is God’s Holy Spirit. His Spirit is working together with Jesus on our behalf as we pray to Almighty God regarding everything we need or desire. Don’t become discouraged if something you’re expecting does not happen as quickly as you think it should. Instead, just ask God for what you need or desire and then expect to receive it as you wait patiently (James 1:4). That’s your right as a son or daughter of the Most High God. It is also His pleasure to bless and prosper you, according to His will for you.
