Go ahead. Take one last look back at the year 2020. Now, start looking to the new year because change is on the way! Obviously, I’m talking about 2021, which is just a few days away. But I’m also taking about change in your life. No doubt you’re looking to the new year with great anticipation and expectancy—trusting that whatever good things that didn’t happen for you this year will come in 2021. I can believe with you for those things to happen, but here’s a word of caution: If how you’ve been living has caused you not to succeed and prosper so far, then realize that to get what God has planned and purposed for you will require you to change the way you think, talk and do things now. Romans 12:2, New Living Translation, says: “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” The word transform means “to convert,” or “to change in condition, nature, or character.” It also means “to become different, to make a radical shift from one position to another.” That means giving up one way of doing something and doing something totally different. To change is the opposite of conform. The Bible is clear that we are not to conform to the choices, ways, and habits of the world. As you get ready for the new year, do so expecting your life to change for the good. Make sure you’re not bringing anything from the old year that would hinder you from receiving what God has planned for you in the new year.
