If you sometimes become discouraged because you don’t seem to be growing and maturing spiritually, don’t let the devil deceive you with such negative thoughts. You were not born already saved and knowing how to serve God. It’s a process that began when you gave your life to Christ. First Peter 2:2, New Living Translation, says, “Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation.” And 2 Timothy 2:15, NLT, tells us to “Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval.” Growing and developing in your faith doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time. If you’re putting time into the things of God, if you’re being diligent to study the Word, pray and commune with God, then eventually you will receive the fulfillment of His promises. Give God the proper time. Whatever God has said He will do, you can expect Him to do just that—right on time!
