Over the years I have found that, while people come joyfully to God and freely receive cleansing from their past, when it comes to living day by day in the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus they allow the enemy to build a case for condemnation in their hearts. But God’s Word says there is “no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). When, as believers, we do fall short of God’s righteous standard, “we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2:1). The apostle John assures us that if we continue in the glorious light with which Christ fills every corner of our lives, the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7). If we humble ourselves and confess our sins when the Holy Spirit convicts us, God will be “faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
