In a real sense, that popular saying that goes, “The struggle is real!” is true. Even as believers, we are constantly confronted with difficulties—problems and troubles that tend to distract us and get us off track, cause us to become weak, take our eyes off God and question His faithfulness. The truth is, though we must deal with the problems, God does not want us burdened and doubting Him. Life for us will be easier if our expectations are more realistic—if we don’t live with a fairy tale mentality that suggests that life is problem free. That’s like building a house in the desert but thinking you’ll never be affected by or experience a sandstorm. Starting on Monday, I’ll share some encouraging words that will help us all to be prepared for difficult times—words that will encourage us to believe that God always fights our battles so we can live victoriously. Jesus told His disciples in John 16:33, The Message, “I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.” Get ready to unpack and unload those burdens you’ve been carrying, and step over into a life of victory and prosperity! What if I never get married, or my marriage fails? What if I lose my job? What if the doctor says it’s malignant? What if God doesn’t answer my prayer? Negative thoughts like these are the products of fear and worry. That’s why the Bible encourages us to “take no thought” of such things (Matthew 6:25). Your heavenly Father does not want you uneasy or disturbed about anything. He desires for you to cast the whole of your care—all your anxieties, worries and concerns—once and for all over on Him. Why? Because He affectionately and watchfully cares for and about you (1 Peter 5:7, Amplified Bible, Classic Edition). God’s Word is filled with promises that pertain to every area of your life. He promised you His love and forgiveness, His joy and strength, His provision and His protection. He has made you more than a conqueror and has promised to be with you always. So, stop carrying that extra baggage and give it to Him. He knows just what to do with it.
