The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” In The Message, the word season is translated “opportune” or “right.” It says, “There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth.” That translation makes it clear that if there is a right time, then there must also be a wrong time to do certain things. That applies to things you’ve been praying for and expecting God to do in your life.

The truth is, God, has His own timetable. He doesn’t do anything, including answer our prayers, based on our timeline. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” That means God already knows what’s going to happen in your life, and when it will happen. You have an active part of His timetable. You may be seeing yourself as a failure, or think your faith is weak. That’s not what God thinks of you. He sees you prosperous and victorious according to His planned purpose for your life—a plan that will happen according to His schedule! Trust Him to give you the strength you need to wait patiently, in faith, for Him to answer you.
